About Stadarskali

Stadur has a long tradition of providing service to Icelanders and other travelers from all over the world.  In 1929 a petrol station was opened on the gravel plain which is located shortly below Stadur.  30 years later, or in 1960, two couples that were residents of Stadur opened up a catering service to travelers.  The service center received the name Stadarskali.

Because of its convenient location, it has always been a popular resting area for people who are traveling between the Southern- and Northern parts of Iceland.  You can actually say that most Icelander have probably stopped at Stadarskali one time or another.  Stadarskali is still owned by the families that established it and sometimes you can have three generations serving you at once.

You can always count on us to be open, all year round, from early morning until late night.  We offer you a friendly service with food ranging from hot-dogs, snacks and hamburgers to fish, chicken and our daily specials.  In addition, our home-made pastry and fresh coffee is always ready to go.

Further services at Stadarskali include petrol station, information center, ATM/Cash Automat, and Post-office, not to forget the country hotel and conference facilities.
